Girls Activist Youth Organisation (GAYO), we believe that every child especially every girl deserves the right to dream big and achieve beyond limits. That’s why our team recently embarked on a powerful Role Modelling Campaign in Kalulu, Chafuta, Neymar and Rusa Primary Schools, located in the heart of Malawi’s rural and farming communities .
This initiative brings together inspiring female role models including professionals, youth leaders, and university students to motivate learners by sharing their stories, challenges, and successes. The goal is clear: to show every child, especially every girl, that their dreams are possible and worth pursuing.
Through interactive sessions with local female role models including nurses, teachers, entrepreneurs, and university students learners were encouraged to envision a brighter future for themselves. These role models shared their personal journeys, the barriers they overcame, and the importance of staying in school.
“I now want to become a nurse and help people in my village just like the woman who spoke to us,” said Madalitso, a Standard 6 learner at Rusa Primary School.
We also took time to engage with teachers, guardians, and community leaders to emphasize the collective role we all play in keeping girls in school. When girls stay in school, communities thrive.
this activities are not only igniting ambition among learners but also strengthening community commitment to ending child marriage and keeping girls in school.
As GAYO, we are not just raising awareness we are planting seeds of hope, courage, and ambition.
